Burkina Faso may NOT recover from the shocking Afcon 3rd place defeat to Cameroon.

The Stallions of Burkina Faso, in a shocking/surprising manner, blew away their chances of being crowned the 3rd place winners in the ongoing afcon tournament. They led as much as 2-0, which was termed a comfortable lead against The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the first half of play.

Although, Not starting as many as 6 key players in the Cameroonian team at first half, Head Coach,Toni Conceição thought it wise to bring on the Hit man/highest goal scorer of the tournament; Vincent Aboubakar, in the start of the second Half.

Astonishing as it may be, with the introduction of Aboubakar, The Stallions further more extended their lead, making it 3-0. A devastated Cameroonian side had just one thing in mind, to find Aboubakar, the saviour.. But Bahoken in the 71st minute of play found the net for the host nation.. Scores turned 3-1.

Still feeling the urge to get back in the game, The Indomitable Lions would force errors on The Stallions and cause them to stay oblivious of the goal poacher, making way for the Hit man, Aboubakar to find the net in the 85th minute of play. The atmosphere at the stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde was lit up and in the 87th  minute of play, a miscommunication from the The Stallions keeper and one of its defenders, caused the Hit man Aboubakar, to  produce a Brace, making it a total of 8 goals  scored by him in the tournament.

The fans present at the  Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo could no longer contain themselves as we would see and hear them roll out their durms, scream with joy and happiness. What had went on as a sad and frustrating game for the host nation, had dramatically turned the opposite, in a space of 20 minutes.

This would come as a shocker to The Stallions of Burkina Faso, as they saw its second choice keeper, F.Ouédraogo get wheeled out and replaced by its 3rd choice keeper; Sawadogo, due to an injury he sustained, clashing with his teammate and rival mate, Aboubakar.. A clash that led to the 3rd goal for the host nation..                      Goal.com

With Cameroon coming back from a 2-0 defeat in the first half, and drawing the game 3-3 at the end of the second half, this would force both teams to a penalty shoot out, to decide a winner and with Cameroon being not so confident, having lost 3 straight penalties in a row, against the Pharaoh's of Egypt in the semi final penalty shoot out , one would think The Stallions still had a chance.. But Cameroon had it all in their favour as Ibrahim Blati Toure (Burkina Faso) failed to covert his penalty, making the host Nation have an advantage over them. Cameroon would go on to win the match with the last perfect strike from Ambroise Oyongo.

So i guess it's safe to say "The Host nation didn't wish to host the event and end up with nothing". 😀
So Congratulations to the Indomitable Lions. Such perseverance ought to be applauded.

We wonder what's going on in the minds of the Burkina Faso team🤔
Will they ever forget this defeat?                      gettyimages
